Welcome back to The Eagle Post! This April, Andrew McClure interviewed our Senior of the Month, Daniel Garabedian.
If you'd prefer to listen rather than read, you can play the audio track above, or you can read a summarized version of the interview below.
To start things off, Daniel wants people to know that he’s a simple man; “ain’t no other way to say it.” He’s been an RCCA Eagle his whole life, going online one year. He’s enjoyed going to the Pickaway Ross Career and Technology Center, saying he “learned lots of useful information.” The program he chose was Machining & Manufacturing because he’s really interested in engineering. He plans on furthering his education by getting a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Liberty University. His favorite memory so far this year was basketball camp at Liberty; “I just fell in love with the campus as soon as we stepped on there.”
Danial’s favorite class/teacher is his lab and lab instructor. “He’s really intelligent and he helps me a lot, with just everything. Whether it’s just in school or outside of school.” His biggest academic accomplishment is when he went to State, both this year and last, for Precision Machining. Last year he got 3rd place; he didn’t know his placement the day of the interview, but he did get 1st place this year. His biggest athletic accomplishment is coming back from a long injury he had this year and “being able to play as good as I did.” His biggest personal accomplishment is managing his time with school, basketball, volleyball, and work and still having time to spend with friends and family. In his free time, he likes to play guitar, listen to music, sometimes play videos games, and cook.
Daniel currently has a job at Chipotle, which he says isn’t bad; “I mean, it’s a job at the end of the day. I’m just trying to save up as much money as I can.” The sport he enjoys playing the most is basketball. “I’ve been playing basketball all my life, and it’s sad that I don’t get to play another year, but I enjoyed all the years I have played.” When asked if he was ready to graduate, Daniel said: “I’m definitely ready to graduate. It’s been a journey, but I’m excited for the next step in life and what God has planned for me.” When asked about summer plans, he said “I’m probably just gonna take a family vacation, nothing special.” His favorite verse is Romans 8:18 - “The pain you feel today is nothing compared to the joy there is to come.” Daniel says he’s definitely a coffee drinker; “With the amount that I work, how late I get home, and how early I wake up I definitely need my coffee.” His favorite place he’s ever been to is Tennessee, and if he could visit any other place in the world he’d go to Florida.
That wraps up this month’s Senior Spotlight; join us in May for our final Senior of the Month, Rylee Elliott!
